Skyward Mountaineering specializes in offering instruction and custom guided ice climbs throughout Ouray, Colorado from early season high elevation routes, to mid-winter classics, to early spring alpine prep routes.

Learn To Crack Climb

This 2-day rock climbing course focuses on the fundamentals of crack climbing in the desert southwest. Learn the nuances of jamming finger cracks, efficient methods for off-width technique and enjoy some Type I fun on splitter hand cracks. Conveniently based out of Grand Junction, Colorado!

Learn to Ice Climb

This 2-day introductory ice climbing course is based in Ouray, Colorado and follows a customized itinerary curated by Skyward Mountaineering’s founder Vince Anderson to take never-ever ice climbers to confident and self-sufficient top rope ice climbers. You will learn foundational movement techniques to develop maximum efficiency, simple and repeatable anchor systems and the nuances of ice climbing.

Learn to Mixed Climb

This 2-day mixed climbing course is designed for intermediate ice climbers looking to develop the precision and energy efficiency to climb steep and delicate mixed and drytooling routes in a winter environment. Climbers will learn to “read” the ice and the rock, conserve energy in steeper terrain and transition between rock and ice.
